Taipei, March 9 (CNA) Of the 90 countries that made deals at the 2025 Taipei International Machine Tool Show (TIMTOS) held from March 3-8 at Nangang Exhibition Hall in Taipei, India was the biggest buyer, according to the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).

Held in conjunction with the Taiwan Association of Machinery Industry, TAITRA said in a Saturday press release that the event attracted more than 4,160 buyers from 90 countries who made deals with over 1,000 participating exhibitors.

Attendance increased 5.1 percent from the last edition of the biennial event in 2023, TAITRA said.

The five countries that made the most deals in descending order during the trade show were India, Japan, China, South Korea and Malaysia, the semi-official trade promotion institution added.

TAITRA attributed the increase in international buyers to the growing demand for smart technology manufacturing and increased need for artificial intelligence (AI).

The 2025 edition of the Taipei machine tool exhibition, which was held under the main theme “AI and Robotics,” was designed around six of the latest trends recently observed in the machinery industry, according to TAITRA.

They are precision machine tools, key components, full-scale automation and smart manufacturing, digital twin-driven integration, additive manufacturing, and expanded cross-industry applications, the institution said.

It added that at the 2025 event, the Intellectual Property Office under the Ministry of Economic Affairs established a Taiwan Patent Go Pavilion to assist local suppliers garner the attention of prospective partners from countries like India and Vietnam.

TAITRA further revealed that international buyers visited 6,100 booths at the trade show to test Taiwan’s machinery innovations in fields such as aerospace, semiconductors, electric vehicles, healthcare, and green energy.

The next edition of TIMTOS will be held in March 2027, it announced.
