by Focus Taiwan

Taipei, March 18 (CNA) EVA Airways (EVA Air) announced Monday that the company will partner with Air Macau to launch codeshare services on flights between Taiwan and the Chinese special administrative region.

In a press release, the Taiwanese carrier said the codeshare flights cover routes operated by EVA Air, including Taoyuan, Kaohsiung and Macau, as well as those operated by Air Macau between the special administration region and Taoyuan, Taichung and Kaohsiung.

The codeshare services, effective from March 30, will significantly enhance the flexibility of flight options between Taiwan and Macau, while allowing passengers to connect more easily to other Chinese cities via Air Macau, the company said.

Chief Executive Vice President Liao Chi-wei (廖至維) said the collaboration came amid the increasing demand by customers for convenient air travel.

The partnership with EVA Air will not only enhance Air Macau’s service offerings, but also provide greater convenience to passengers traveling to and from Macau, Air Macau Vice President Zhang Yun (張允) was quoted as saying in the news release.

As demand for aviation travel gradually increases, this partnership will undoubtedly create greater opportunities for both airlines and further improve Macau International Airport’s connectivity, Zhang said.

EVA Air currently operates 21 weekly flights between Taoyuan, Kaohsiung and Macau, while Air Macau provides about 42 flights between Taoyuan, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Macau each week.
