Balmy weather forecast for Taiwan from Tuesday to Thursday

by Focus Taiwan

Taipei, April 15 (CNA) Clear skies will prevail over most of Taiwan on Tuesday, with only the eastern half of the island and the Hengchun Peninsula in the south likely to be overcast and get rain, according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

Daytime highs Tuesday are expected to reach 30 degrees in central and southern Taiwan, 25-27 degrees Celsius in northern Taiwan, and 25-26 degrees in eastern Taiwan, the CWA forecast.

Overnight lows of 16-18 degrees can be expected across Taiwan, the CWA said.

Meanwhile, the skies will be partly cloudy to sunny on Taiwan’s outlying islands, with temperatures ranging from 22 to 28 degrees in Penghu, 18 to 27 degrees in Kinmen, and 18 to 24 degrees in Matsu, the CWA forecast.

Due to strengthening northeasterly winds, areas along the coasts of New Taipei, the Hengchun Peninsula and Penghu, and from Miaoli to Changhua could experience sustained winds of 39-50 kilometers per hour, with gusts of 62-75 kph, on Tuesday, the CWA said.

Weather conditions will remain stable on Wednesday and Thursday, with daytime highs to reach 30-31 degrees in the western half of Taiwan, 25-26 degrees in the eastern half, and 25-27 degrees in outlying island areas.

Starting Friday, the moisture in the atmosphere will increase due to an approaching weather front, the agency said.

That weather front is forecast to pass through Taiwan on Sunday, bringing sporadic showers to central, northern and northeastern Taiwan and mountainous areas in the south, while eastern and southeastern Taiwan can also expect scattered showers, the CWA said.

By next Monday, there will be abundant moisture in the air and from April 22 to 24, the weather in Taiwan will be affected by a lingering weather front, the CWA forecast.
