Taipei, March 27 (CNA) Temperatures are expected to drop in northern Taiwan starting Friday as a cold front approaches, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Thursday.
Daytime highs in the north are projected to hover around 20 degrees Celsius due to the arrival of the cold front and strengthening northeasterly seasonal winds, said CWA forecaster Lin Ting-yi (林定宜).
The mercury is forecast to fall to 14-15 degrees over the weekend, and to 16-18 degrees in other areas, Lin said.
Meanwhile, regional showers are expected in northern and eastern Taiwan, Lin added, noting that residents in central Taiwan could also see intermittent rain, with partly cloudy skies prevailing in other areas.
More precipitation is likely across the island, except in flat areas in the south, and localized downpours could occur in northern and northeastern regions, Lin said.
As the cold front weakens, temperatures are expected to rise slightly on April 1, he added.
