Taipei, March 30 (CNA) Taiwan’s Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Sunday that temperatures will fall overnight and remain cold, though warmer weather is expected for the Tomb Sweeping Festival holiday weekend starting Thursday.

CWA forecaster Chen Pei-an (陳姵安) told CNA that cold air from China will continue to affect the northern, northeastern and eastern regions of Taiwan.

Temperatures on Monday morning in northern Taiwan will drop to 12-13 degrees Celsius, while central Taiwan will see temperatures of 13-14 degrees, and southern Taiwan will hover around 15-17 degrees, Chen said.

The cold spell will weaken on Tuesday, but northeasterly winds will continue affecting the country until Thursday, keeping temperatures in northern and central regions around 15 degrees.

The forecaster also noted that temperatures will gradually rise, with highs of 17 degrees expected in the north and 26-28 degrees in central and southern Taiwan before Thursday.

Starting Friday on the second day of the Tomb-Sweeping Festival holiday, Taiwan can expect temperatures of over 20 degrees nationwide.
