Taipei, April 8 (CNA) Two weather fronts are forecast to sweep across Taiwan later in the week, bringing scattered showers and potentially heavy rainfall, particularly in northern and central Taiwan, the Central Weather Administration (CWA) said Tuesday.
The first front is expected to approach on Wednesday evening, but signs of instability will begin earlier in the day, including sporadic showers along Taiwan’s east coast, forecasters said.
From Wednesday night through Thursday, central and northern Taiwan will face the brunt of the system, with short bursts of thunderstorms and a chance of localized heavy rain, according to the administration.
The rain may ease on Friday, before another weather front introduces more widespread rainfall on Saturday to areas in northern and central Taiwan, it added.
The rain is likely to taper off from Sunday, while a strengthening seasonal wind could bring cooler and drier air islandwide.
Temperature-wise, lows on Wednesday will range from 17-22 degrees Celsius islandwide, with daytime highs around 29-30 degrees in the west and about 26 degrees in the east, the CWA said.
Rain from the approaching fronts will cause a slight daytime temperature drop of around 2 degrees across the country from Thursday to Saturday, it said.
As seasonal northeasterly winds take hold on Sunday, cooler air will be more noticeable — with the temperature in the north forecast to be 16-21 degrees, central areas between 17-24 degrees, and southern Taiwan 19-25 degrees.
